BC Application Deadline: Friday April 24th, 5pm PST

Find out who made the Top 12 at the BC PPP2015 Launch Party May 27th

The seven year, $5.2 Million BC PEAK Performance Project was initially launched in 2009 with 102.7 The PEAK, Canada’s first AAA format station. Now in year 7, the BC PEAK PP has changed the lives of 100 artists and created a vibrant music community in British Columbia.

The PEAK Performance Project is designed to educate, promote, develop and hopefully launch the careers of some of BC’s and Alberta’s up and coming artists. It also hopes to foster the BC and Alberta music industries and create a sense of community amongst music professionals. While the projects are run as separate programs in each province, there is an incredible opportunity to create bridges between BC and Alberta with a shared educational experience at the Rockridge Canyon, Princeton, BC Bootcamp.

This year, twelve artists from BC will receive an intensive, one week training program in the music business, live performance, songwriting, marketing and promotion. Artists will benefit from mentorships from some of the music industry’s top professionals and performers. Each of the finalists receives a base camp award of $5000 to spend towards career development. All of these artists will have the chance to perform live in Vancouver as part of the the PEAK Performance Project Concert Series. The top 3 artists will also perform at the PEAK Performance Project Finale Concert, where they will take home the following awards:

  • First Place $102,700;
  • Second Place $75,000;
  • Third Place $50,000;

The Top 12 artists are announced live on location (and on-air at 102.7 The PEAK) at Fortune Sound Club on Wednesday May 27th. Artists will be notified of their selection via the email address provided in their application, and will have until Friday June 5th to confirm their participation.

PEAK Performance Orientation & Khatsahlano Festival Showcases
All Top 12 Artists shall be required to attend a PEAK PP orientation session, on Saturday July 11th in Vancouver. Each band will then perform a set as a part of the Khatsahlano Festival.  Attendance at the entire orientation and performance time slot is mandatory, and should be considered a full day commitment.

PEAK Performance Project Base Camp Award
After Orientation and upon completion of an approved proposal, each of the Top 12 PEAK artists will be granted five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) to be spent in a manner which, in the opinion of the artist, will fill a gap or gaps in the artist’s career. This can include recording, marketing, promotion, video production or other such activities. The proposal and the impact of the funds on the Artist’s career will form part of the overall assessment of each artist.

PEAK Performance Project Boot Camp
The PEAK PP Boot Camp takes place August 27th – September 3rd 2015 at RockRidge Canyon in Princeton, BC. All participating artists, including all individual members of each band, (as well as the top 12 Alberta PEAK PP artists) attend the entire PEAK PP Boot Camp. Attendance and completion of the Boot Camp course is essential to moving to the PEAK Performance stage of the program, however the boot camp will not be a part of the artists’ overall assessment.

The Boot Camp will work on the principal that the new music business requires a DIY philosophy. Course content may include such subjects as live stage and individual performance, songwriting, marketing and promotion, media training, music law and business, music industry revenues, touring, radio tracking and online and social media issues. Course materials and workshops are delivered by a “Who’s Who” of Canada’s top music industry professionals, who in the past have included Alan Cross (Journalist/Radio), Nick Blasko (Manager, Tegan & Sara), and Ryan Guldemond (Producer/Musician, Mother Mother).

PEAK Performances at Fortune Sound Club
Commencing in September 2015, the Artists who have successfully completed the Boot Camp will participate in a series of showcases for the purpose of determining the top 3 PEAK PP artists. The showcases slots will be announced in August and the artists shall have the opportunity to use what they learned at the Boot Camp to promote their shows and enhance their careers. A panel of industry professionals will score each live performance, which will then form a part of the artists’ overall assessment.

Public Online Voting
The public will be engaged to vote for their favorite artist over a defined period. The voting will be tallied and then each artist will be assessed points based on their percentage of overall votes cast. These results will form a part of the artists’ overall assessment.

PEAK Performance Project Challenges and Final Report
Throughout the project, the top 12 artists will be issued a series of challenges aimed to strengthen their career and fill in any potential gaps. The artists will complete a final report that summarizes the results of these challenges, along with their overall accomplishments during the period, that the committee will review and critique to form a part of their overall assessment. These reports will be due  October 23rd.

The PEAK Performance Project Finale
The Top 3 artists will be announced on air at 102.7 The PEAK (or other location to be determined by the PEAK FM) on October 29th, however the order of the Top 3 artists will be announced at the PEAK Performance Project Finale.

The top 3 artists will be announced awarded support in the following amount:

  • First Place $102,700.00
