It also hopes to foster the BC and Alberta music industries and create a sense of community amongst artists and music professionals. The BC PEAK Performance Project, sponsored by Cariboo Brewing, is in year 7 of a seven-year, $5.29 million program designed to kick-start the international music careers of 3 emerging B.C. artists annually. The project is administered by Music BC Industry Association and funded by 102.7 The PEAK through CRTC
approved Canadian Content Development Funding. Past winners have included We Are the City, Kyprios, Current Swell, Dear Rouge, Rykka and Good For Grapes.

FAQ’s

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about applying for the PPP!

1. I’m a solo artist but I play with a band – should I apply as a solo artist or group?

If you are a solo artist you should apply as a solo artist. You will still be welcome to perform with a band at all the showcases, including bootcamp!

If you are a band, every member needs to sign the contracts, and be at every mandatory event and showcase. That is why a solo artist should not sign up their musicians unless they are a dedicated and consistant contributing member of the group!

2. What if I’m not available for the orientation day/3rd day of bootcamp/our drummer can’t miss work for bootcamp etc….

If you are selected to be in the top 12, you as an artist, or your entire band as a band, must be in attendance at all the mandatory events, no exceptions will be made. Those dates include: July 11th orientation and Khatsahlano showcase, and Bootcamp from Aug 27th-Sept 3rd.

3. What if I’m not available for all of the fall showcase dates?

It’s OK if you’re not available for all of them – we will ask the top 12 artists about any date conflicts with the 4 showcases and do our best to schedule around them. However, you must perform at one of the dates, and once it’s assigned no exceptions will be made.

4. One of our band members turns 19 in August, is it ok if we still enter?

Unfortunately, no – ALL band members must be 19 years of age by June 5th (the deadline to sign the participation contracts).

 5. Can my video have edits?

The audio from your video must be live, one take, with no edits. However, if you have multiple camera angles from that take, that’s fine. For more tips on your application materials click here!

6. I added my Bio to the DMDS site, and then it disappears. How do I fix this?

Use another program to do your word count in first like Microsoft Word, then copy and paste into DMDS making sure the word count size is met. If you are still experiencing issues, make sure your browser is up to date or try a different one. We found that Chrome is the fastest.

GOOD LUCK!

APPLY NOW

#PPP2015 Launches March 30th!

#PPP2015 Applications open Monday, March 30th and close Friday, April 24th!

Here is what you’ll need to get ready:

• A Live Video – The video must be a live performance, with no audio edits or lip syncing, but does not necessarily have to be in front of an audience, and may contain multiple angles… LIKE THIS or THIS

• 2 Original Professionally Recorded Songs  – When Choosing your songs, consider which are the strongest, which you get the best response from and could imagine hearing on The PEAK Vancouver or The PEAK Calgary?

• A Bio –  Biographies need to be short, but informative. If the artist does not have a big track record, then tell a compelling story about the artist.

A Professional Photo – that does not mean that the artist needs to use a high price photographer, but should be the best possible reflection of the artist and their music.

• An Essay about why you want to be in the #PPP2015 – use this as an opportunity to explain to the jurors why you should be in the top 12!

For more examples, check out the PPPBC Alumni or PPPAB Alumni pages!

Rock on!
