Showcase Recap and Upcoming Fundraiser

rodRod here. Last week we played our showcase at Fortune. It was a roaring good time! Such a treat playing with Bed of Stars and Joy District. Evan’s light show was off the hook and, needless to say, his vocal sounded impeccable. Our JD boys were looking comfortable rocking the crowd. There were some Comox Valley people there that were lit up! Hopefully that’s not the last time we share a stage with those wonderful folks.

After the show, we drank some Cariboos and then headed over to our friend’s place for late night tequila and tacos. AND GUESS WHO WAS THERE! LITTLE INDIA! I know, right?! They were looking handsome as ever. I keep telling them I’m going to come to Langley and hang out with them at the Moxies (or Milestones?) where Andrew works. One day…

Daniel_Kingsbury_Mindil_Beach_colour_03Serious mode – on October 10th we’re hosting a show to raise money for the Daniel Kingsbury Music for Youth Endowment. When our late friend and former bandmate was in high school, he and some classmates wrote, recorded and released a double disc of original material. They sold the album locally and raised nearly $10,000. For the past 10 years, the interest from that investment has provided annual scholarships for underprivileged youth on the Sunshine Coast to take music lessons, empowering them to write and record their own original music. The endowment has grown significantly since its inception and we plan grow it even further, increasing the number of annual scholarships available. Ultimately, we’d like to see scholarships administered in Victoria and Vancouver as well.

The show is going to feature performances by ourselves, Wilderness Crew and local reggae legend, Randeesh. For more information on the fundraiser, check out the Facebook event here.
